Sinds 1912 is er in het pand al een kroeg gevestigd. Het caf\u00e9 wordt sinds jaar en dag bestierd door de familie Jacobs. Henk Jacobs, overleden in november 2018, is de naamgever van de <\/span><a style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: 1rem;\" href=\"https:\/\/festivaldeoversteek.nl\/2024-test\/2019\/06\/25\/schuur-van-henk\/\">Schuur van Henk<\/a><span style=\"color: inherit; font-family: inherit; font-size: 1rem; background-color: inherit;\">, gelegen naast het caf\u00e9, en het Henk Jacobspad; een fraai wandelpad over eiland Veur-Lent.<\/span><\/p><p>Recht tegenover Caf\u00e9 De Zon ligt de Veerdam, waar tot de opening van de Waalbrug in 1936 de gierpont Zeldenrust de oversteek maakte naar Nijmegen. De Veerdam biedt een prachtig uitzicht over de binnenstad van Nijmegen. Nescio dichtte er al over in <em>De uitvreter<\/em>: &#8216;Het water stroomde maar, de zon scheen er maar in, honderd, duizend, honderdduizend maal. Voor twee duizend jaar scheen de zon er al in en stroomde het water maar.
